New Album from Pitchben

Hi Guys,

Luckilly Summer is coming up so time for some hot music!!
I discovered a few weeks ago a nice Album from artist Pitchben released in 2011.
Unsatisfied with the homestudio-path that has been taken by most contemporary music it is now his mission to not only bring back that authentic 80s sound, but to join the authentic production style of that era with a modern touch. This means: real scores for authentic string and brass sections were recorded by top notch musicians while the featured vocalists present skill levels easily comparable to those of 80s singers.
This teams up with huge synths and drums, creating the fresh big sound that can only be produced in a modern studio environment

Enjoy this fine Album on Compost records

New artists Beverly Girls from Finland

Hi guys,

Last weeks I stumbled on a nice track from the Beverly Girls.
Listening to it in mind came tracks from the 80's like Matakena, Idiator Edwards and other Italian based groups.
Really nice and groovy sound and specific vocals :-)

Here is a little info about the band i received by mail today.

Our story is still quite short: we began playing in late 2009 as a group - just a bunch of 18-20 year-old boogie and funk music fans. We started playing some cover songs (Tom Browne, Stephanie Mills, Patrice Rushen, Jesse Johnson etc... I guess you get the picture : )), and after some time we switched to original material - even though we still play an occasional cover when performing live. We'll, and live and live - we've only played two shows, but we're on our way! : )

Our group has changed quite a bit during the past couple of years. I guess it took some time to find the right people for this project. At the moment there are four of us: 2 singers, a guitarist and a keyboard player. At the moment our ages vary from 20 to 22 years.

About our Promo Tape: it was recorded last year in our keyboard player's living room with a zero budget (...well, ok - the microphone did cost 50 euros ; )). Some people have liked it, and it has already been getting some airplay in France and Finland, which has been very suprising and great.

At the moment we are just writing material and rehearsing, in hope to find some venues to play at.

New Album from Opolopo

Opolopo is back with a great album with remixes and productions he made over the last year.

The fearless vocalists taking part in these sonically advanced experiments in groove mutation include the first lady of modern funk, Amalia, R&B multitalent Colonel Red, Tupac songwriter Erik Rico, Mathew Herbert collaborator Eska, Grammy-nominee Gregory Porter, French soul superstar Sly Johnson, hip hop hall of famer Talib Kweli, spoken word queen Ursula Rucker and many others. Time to get your mutant on!

My favorites are Tomson & Benedict and Colonel Red.
Judge for yourself and buy this great album!

New Album from Alicia Myers

Long time no post so now 2 for you guys :-)

First album came out last month and is from the great Singer Alicia Myers.
This album has all the oldschool styles in it we like so much.
We all know her offcourse from her lead vocals in the Band One Way and her solo albums in the 80's.
Now she is back with in my opinion one of the best R&B albums from this year.
Check it out and enjoy it as much as I do!

new album From Adika Pongo

Hi Folks,

Again a nice new album from a group called Adika pongo.
This band is a nice Italian treat which is formed in 1993 by  Nicholas Wong, Lorenzo Salvatori, Aidan Zammit, Leonardo D'Angelo en Alessandro Benedetti en Eleonora.
The genre is Funky disco like music with a nice groove to it.
They are very popular in Italy, but never broke through in the rest of the world.
Maybe this nice new groovy album will help a bit :-)

Enjoy this album!!
